The Introduction To Permaculture workshop is a popular first step into formal training in permaculture.  Informative, inspiring and practical, this workshop contains a healthy mixture of theory and engaging hands-on exercises that will equip you with the fundamentals of permaculture, which will arm you with methods and strategies to have a positive impact on the environment, boosting food productivity on you own yard, (re)designing to maximize water efficiency, and reducing energy usage and costs at home. 

WORKSHOP FORMAT

The Introduction To Permaculture Workshop runs 9:00am to 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday, with two refreshment breaks and a catered lunch.

Through a combination of theory and hands-on exercises, the workshop will cover such topics as:

  • Designing for organic food production on your property
  • Soil rehabilitation
  • Strategies for water surplus and effective rainwater harvest
  • Companion planting
  • Permaculture ethics
  • Concepts and methods in sustainable design
  • Pattern understanding
  • Ecologically-friendly property and house design
  • Much more!

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Permaculture is a synthesis of all disciplines; permaculture design will help you frame challenges in a new way whether you’re an aspiring backyard gardener, a farmer, or a member of a environmental NGO or an engineer.  This workshop is applicable to anyone interested and concerned with acquiring practical strategies for sustainable food production, resilient design and making lasting positive change.

WHAT WILL I GET FROM THIS COURSE? 

After this workshop, you will know the fundamentals of permaculture, and you will be able to start applying them to your home, your profession, or your studies.  While the outcomes you'll experience from this workshop will be limitless, you will be ready to:

  • Design and implement a beautiful food-forest in your yard that meets your fruit and vegetable needs with a minimum of effort, right outside your door
  • Make the right design choices that maximize the use of rain water to meet your garden's water needs
